" If our people feel cared for and valued for who they are, not merely what they do; we will have their hearts and their loyalty. This involves listening to our people and finding ways to serve them; all motivated by a desire to see them succeed.".... Alaafin Owoade.

For the new Alaafin of Oyo, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade, the emphasis is on principles rather than rules.

This is because rules modify behaviour and   principles change hearts, as anyone can adjust his or her lifestyle for a season or adhere to a structure.

Oba Owoade undertands that lives are truly changed through transformation rather than conformity. Hence , when we focus on principles, it teaches people wisdom which works in a multitude of situations.

According to the Paramount Ruler, " if our people feel cared for and valued for who they are, not merely what they do; we will have their hearts and their loyalty. This involves listening to our people and finding ways to serve them; all motivated by a desire to see them succeed.

"Credibility is the foundation of effective leadership. It is earned through actions and integrity, not just position or title. A leader’s credibility is built by demonstrating honesty, transparency, and reliability.

"When leaders, including Monarchs, follow through on promises and maintain ethical standards, they foster an environment where their people feel secured and valued, encouraging open communication and collaboration".

As a credible Royal Father , Alaafin Owoade is also not afraid to admit mistakes and learn from his people modeling humility and resilience.

What about Oba Owoade's aproachability and openness to feedback which further strengthen credibility.

He actively seeks input and acts on it shows he values diverse perspectives and strive for improvement .

Alaafin Owoade's openness fosters innovation and inclusivity.

His Imperial Majesty takes solace in conversations, minimizing distractions and maintaining eye contact.

This shows he values the speaker’s input and creates a safe space for dialogue.

Asking thoughtful questions is another key aspect of Alaafin Owoade's effective listening.

He clarifies misunderstandings and gain a deeper understanding of his people's challenges and aspirations.
